Geotechnical investigations to commence at lower reservoir site

The Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project is conducting geotechnical investigations.

Works will be undertaken on private land south of the George’s Junction area.

This work is anticipated to continue through until June 2024.

You may notice increased vehicle movements on the Kempsey-Armidale road between Kempsey and George’s Junction.

Operating in a safe environment

The Oven Mountain project is committed to creating safe work environments and the principles of no harm. We will implement the following road safety measures during project work on the Kempsey - Armidale Road:

  • All heavy project vehicles will be escorted between Bellbrook and George’s Junction by a pilot vehicle to notify oncoming vehicles
  • All project vehicles will be required to drive with lights on
  • Signs will be installed along the road clearly noting UHF communication requirements (UHF 17)
  • Regular community updates will be provided via SMS, social media, and website postings
